Can commercial rubber flooring be installed overnight?
Yes — rubber flooring is well-suited to phased or overnight commercial installation. Loose-lay interlocking tiles can be installed and made operational within hours. PSA-bonded rolls allow light foot traffic within 24 hours. Full-bond contact adhesive installations require 48–72 hours before full commercial loads. This makes rubber flooring particularly attractive for retail refurbishments, leisure centre upgrades, and other environments where extended downtime is not feasible. Rolls should be acclimatised flat in the installation environment for 24–48 hours before laying to prevent edge curl.

What is the difference between SBR and EPDM for commercial use?
SBR (Styrene-Butadiene Rubber) is the cost-effective standard for indoor commercial applications — gyms, warehouses, schools, and sports halls. It is made from 85–95% recycled tyre rubber and performs excellently in dry and lightly wet indoor conditions. EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) is specified where UV, ozone, or weathering resistance is required — outdoor commercial spaces, wet rooms, food environments, and playgrounds. EPDM resists UV degradation that causes SBR to harden and crack over time outdoors. EPDM also contains no leachable plasticisers, making it HACCP-appropriate for food industry floors.
