Description
Heavy Duty Garage Floor Paint is a 20-litre, high-build coating for concrete floors that take real punishment from cars, vans, trucks, forklifts and pallet racking. If you run or look after a garage, workshop, warehouse, factory or showroom, it gives you a hard-wearing semi-gloss finish that stops concrete dusting, makes the floor quicker to clean and lets you mark out walkways, parking bays and work zones in clear colours. At the stated rate of about 10m² per litre, one tin covers roughly 200m² in a single coat, so it suits larger floors. Choose from 16 colours, plus a Pre Seal primer for dusty or previously unpainted concrete.
Why it works
A thick, high-build film
A high-build coating lays down more material per coat than a standard floor paint. On a working floor, that extra film is what takes the scuffing from tyres, pallet trucks and boots, so the colour lasts longer before busy routes need touching up.
Abrasion, wear and chemical resistance
The coating is designed for very good abrasion and wear resistance, with added chemical resistance compared with bare concrete. Spills sit on the painted surface instead of soaking into the slab, which makes them easier to clear up.
Less dust, quicker cleaning
Bare concrete sheds fine dust that settles on stock and machinery. Sealing the surface stops that, and a semi-gloss finish can be swept and mopped far faster than open concrete.
Clear zones and safer routes
With 16 colours you can separate pedestrian walkways from vehicle routes, mark parking bays and colour-code work areas.

Where it's used
Typical jobs include domestic and commercial garages, vehicle workshops and service bays, warehouses with racking and forklift aisles, factory production floors and car or machinery showrooms. It is just as useful for part of a larger site – a loading bay, a walkway through a production hall or a covered parking area – where you want the floor to look cared for and the routes to be obvious.

Choosing the right option
Grey is the most practical choice for vehicle floors: Light and Mid Grey keep a workshop bright while hiding the dust and tyre marks that show up on very dark or very light floors. Dark Grey and Black disguise oil staining but show dust. Yellow and White are the usual choices for walkway lines and hazard markings over a grey base, Green and Blue suit zoning, and Tile Red Oxide gives a traditional workshop look. Add a tin of Pre Seal Primer if the concrete is new, dusty, powdery or has never been painted. To work out how much you need, multiply the floor area in m² by the number of coats and divide by 10 to get litres, then allow extra for rough or porous concrete. Order all tins of one colour together for consistent colour across the floor.
Installation, use & care
Preparation decides how long any floor paint lasts. Degrease oil-stained areas, remove loose paint and laitance (mechanical abrasion is the most reliable method) and vacuum thoroughly. New concrete must be fully cured, typically at least 28 days, and the slab must be dry: tape a square of polythene down overnight, and if moisture forms underneath, wait. Stir the tin thoroughly and apply thin, even coats by roller or brush, keeping a wet edge. Paint when the air and floor are above 10°C and free from condensation. Clean the finished floor with a neutral detergent.
FAQ
How much floor will one 20L tin cover?
At the stated rate of about 10m² per litre, one tin covers roughly 200m² in one coat, or about 100m² in two coats. Porous or never-painted concrete absorbs more, so allow extra; the Pre Seal coat is in addition to the topcoat.
Do I need the Pre Seal primer?
It is advised on dusty or unpainted concrete before the topcoat, giving the paint a sound, sealed base. On a sound, previously painted floor, clean and key the surface and try a small test area first.
When can forklifts and cars go back on the floor?
It is made for floors carrying cars, trucks, forklifts and racking, but must harden fully before heavy or turning traffic returns. The full-cure time is not published for this line, so contact us before you plan a shutdown.
Is the finish slip resistant?
The smooth semi-gloss finish is easy to clean but can be slippery when wet or oily. For ramps, wash bays and other wet areas, ask us about adding an anti-slip aggregate to the final coat.
