It defines Critical Fall Height (CFH) — the maximum height from which a child can fall onto the surface without serious head injury. Our playground mats are tested to this standard. Always check the CFH matches your equipment height.
16mm tiles are typically suitable for equipment up to 1.0–1.5m fall height. 25mm for up to 2.0m. Always refer to the test data for the specific product and consult the BS EN 1177 test report. Contact us for guidance.
For permanent installations, a compacted MOT Type 1 sub-base with drainage is recommended. For temporary use, tiles can be placed directly on firm, level grass.
